Soo, if you all have been wondering why i haven't been posting and being as active as much on here.. well besides bringing our newest addition to the fam-bam...

we've been SO extremely busy with all of her doctor appts lately.. as she has developed really bad Jaundice over the span of 4 days -_-

When tianna was born, she also had really bad jaundice, and they say it's very common in preemies (since Jasmyn was also born 2.5 weeks early)..

I had to stop breastfeeding Tianna because the pediatrician said it was "Breastmilk Jaundice", soon after i did, she went to normal lol..

But with Jasmyn, the consultants (as she is not a pediatrician), doesn't believe it could be Breastmilk Jaundice, and so i've continued to breastfeed Jasmyn 24/7 around the clock and her levels have not gone down at all. I expressed my concern about my 1st have breastmilk jaundice, and possibly Jasmyn having it as well, this lady was so rude and didn't bother to acknowledge my concerns and said no, continue breastfeeding.

So we go in again to have her blood taken to see if it's gone down.. so we'll see what happens today.. it's been a steady 15.9-16 and high is already considered at 12. so pray for us! i'm really getting stressed/depressed from this whole breastfeeding thing too, but she won't quit pushing/pressuring me todo this :o <_<

Khristine, you do what is right for you, if the BF is stressing you so much, perhaps you can either express or have a feed on formula to get a break?

I hope the jaundice settles down, isn't natural sunlight meant to be good for it (from memory?) - if so is it sunny with you?

Kyra had it, mainly on her nose. They do say sunlight helps it go away. I would sit with Kyra in the window so sun could shine on her (of course she was born in the summer). It took a while but finally went away. she was 3 weeks early. I will pray for you guys, I know its rough. Also if you feel like it is the breast milk follow your instinct. There were people here that pressured me to keep breast feeding till she is one, but I thought it was best for the both of us if she started on Formula at 6 months. She will be fine either way.

Thanks gals =)

We have been putting her nex t to the window morning and afternoon (not directly in the sun though of course)

And today it still hasn't gone down (im on my phone at the docs office waiting for my doc to call the plce we're at bac for further instructions).

We do have to go to urgent care tomorrow though. Her jaundice is all over, mainly face and her eyes.

So we'll be playing the waiting game. But on the bright side, wednesday she weighed 5lbs 5oz, yesterday 5lbs 7oz and today 5lbs 9oz (she was born 5lbs 11oz and had some weightloss but they said its within normal limits)

lol i showed xtian my cracked and sore nipples, and boy did he feel bad! LOL :( he was like, oh poor hunny, i'm so sorry lol..

i'm going to just take a break from BF'ing, plus the doctor called me, and otld me he wants me to at least supplement 1 bottle even if it's 1 oz of bottle so that she can get more in and hopefully that'll help her bilirubin go down (if she keeps pooping it out)..

im so tired lol, i'm going to nap now :)

but just to update everyone, her levels were confirmed at 16 today, and they said today she is 5 days old and it's usually the peak of jaundice, so we'll see if it goes down tomorrow, we have to go to urgent care in the AM to do another one.. Poor Jasmyn getting her heels poked and prodded :(
