1. Best: Michelle Obama

This past year brought us a new president and a new style icon. From the moment Barack and Michelle Obama ventured onto the campaign trail, we realized the world of fashion would never be the same. From blogs solely dedicated to the first lady's wardrobe to news headlines about her style choices, fashionistas and non-fashionistas alike have been inspired to cinch belts, rock bows and accessorize with brooches. There's no question—she earned her spot on our best-dressed list of 2009.
2. Worst: Lady Gaga
http://beauty.ivillage.com/slideshow/worst-lady-gaga.jpg
Four-time platinum award winner Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, a.k.a. Lady Gaga, hides her poker face behind an elaborate veil with as many layers as her onstage persona. From futuristic looks to downright odd outfits, the world went gaga for this fashion freak in 2009. Although she's landed in our worst-dressed list, she's one of our all-time favorite musicians of the year
3. Best: Suri Cruise
http://beauty.ivillage.com/slideshow/best-suri-cruise.jpg
Although mini-fashionista Suri Cruise made headlines for walking the streets of Boston in high-heels, she still made our best-dressed list for the second year in a row. The three-year-old's green fairy princess boots are so darn cute. Every photo snapped in 2009 showcased the budding style icon's fabulous wardrobe. Even grown-ups are jealous!
4. Worst: Adam Lambert
http://beauty.ivillage.com/slideshow/worst-adam-lambert.jpg
American Idol winner, Adam Lambert, was criticized for simulating same-sex acts on stage at the live American Music Awards. As scandalous as that might have been for some, we can’t help but be more concerned by his poor choices in fashion. Although we give him props for rocking guyliner, we're not praising his studded jacket.
5. Best: Kate Gosselin
http://beauty.ivillage.com/slideshow/best-kate-gosselin.jpg
Tabloids have had a field day now that Jon and Kate Plus 8 is minus one with a divorce pending. But, Kate Gosselin appears unfazed in this simple, yet elegant Catherine Malandrino dress. We love that the now single mom has a fabulous sense of style. You go, girl!
6. Worst: Jon Gosselin
http://beauty.ivillage.com/slideshow/worst-jon-gosselin.jpg
From sloppy jeans to cheesy Ed Hardy T-shirts, there's not much to love about Jon Gosselin—as a reality star or as a man with "style" (note the quotes). As for those rumors he was going to work with designer Christian Audigier on a line, we can't help but chuckle at the thought. Would you trust his style know-how (or lack of)? No way!
7. Best: Gwen Stefani
At New York Fashion Week, rocker/fashion designer Gwen Stefani shows off her L.A.M.B collection, leaving no doubt she has an eye for style. Not only did the mom maintain her fabulous wardrobe in 2009, she dressed son, Kingston Rossdale, just as hip.
8. Worst: Rihanna
http://beauty.ivillage.com/slideshow/worst-rihanna.jpg
Rihanna inspired millions with her 2009 Glamour Women of the Year award, but left fashionistas uninspired with her choice of curtain couture. And, this is not the first time the singer disappointed us on the red carpet. At the American Music Awards, she rocked an offbeat Marchesa gown.
9. Best: Leighton Meester
http://beauty.ivillage.com/slideshow/best-leighton-meester.jpg
When she's not tongue-twisting with co-star, Ed Westwick, or conniving with classmates on Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester looks ever-so-cute. On occasion, the actress/singer did push the envelope a little when it came to her style selections in 2009, but overall, she knows how to work it. Nothing to gossip about here!
10. Worst: M.I.A.
http://beauty.ivillage.com/slideshow/worst-m.i.a.jpg
Time magazine named music artist M.I.A one of the World's Most Influential People. Let's hope the masses aren't swayed by her style! And no, her top is not a plug for National Geographic's Shark Week—just poor judgment.
11. Best: Bradley Cooper
http://beauty.ivillage.com/slideshow/best-bradley-cooper.jpg
Okay, it's no secret—Bradley Cooper is insanely hot. But more importantly, the actor graced red carpets sharply dressed at the 13th Annual Hollywood Awards Gala (pictured), the All About Steve premiere, even Paris Fashion Week, just to name a few. There's no denying the Hollywood hunk's place on our best-dressed list for 2009.
